Zoom Advanced Features
Educators and facilitators constantly seek innovative tools to enhance collaboration, engagement, and productivity in our virtual classrooms and meetings. Advanced Zoom features, such as AI Companion and Zoom Whiteboards, offer exciting possibilities for faculty and students.
Zoom Whiteboard is a feature that enhances virtual meetings by integrating real-time collaborative tools directly within Zoom, similar to tools such as Miro and Mural. This seamless integration allows participants to engage actively by visualizing and discussing ideas without switching apps. Its convenience boosts engagement and streamlines meetings, while its integration into Zoom ensures synchronous communication and the ability to revisit and continue discussions on saved whiteboards.

AI Companion is an AI functionality by Zoom that can enhance user productivity and collaboration. It offers features like meeting summarization, content generation, chat threads annotation, and smart recording to streamline user experiences. And it can generate content in various formats, such as sticky notes, tables, mind maps, and flowcharts, which are well-sorted and organized.

The recent update of these advanced features allows users to leverage Whiteboard Content Generation with AI Companion. Here are some highlights of the features I reviewed:
Generate Stickies
Brainstorming often involves quickly capturing many ideas. During collaborative brainstorming, the AI Companion becomes your creative partner. The AI Companion streamlines brainstorming sessions by automatically generating sticky notes, allowing you to focus on refining and expanding those ideas collaboratively.

Generate Table
Tables are helpful for data representation, analysis, and comparison. Generating content in tables will save users time when reviewing and selecting helpful content.
Language learning benefits from exposure to diverse vocabulary. The AI Companion simplifies the creation of vocabulary lists, making it easier for students to engage with new words and their contexts. Thus, language teachers can leverage the AI Companion to enhance language acquisition. AI Companion can also be used to generate rubrics.
Generate Mindmap and Flowchart
When tackling complex problems, the AI Companion provides valuable content, and mindmaps and flowcharts are ideal for explaining procedures. Therefore, instructors or facilitators can use AI Companion to generate mindmaps or flowcharts as basic frameworks for learning materials to present in Zoom online classes.
I found that AI Companion and Zoom Whiteboards really boost virtual collaboration and productivity for both teachers and students. This combination makes it easy for users to get involved, visualize ideas clearly, and make learning more efficient.
AI-generated content is useful, but it can sometimes be inaccurate, offensive, or misleading due to the limitations of the data it was trained on and the inherent biases in those datasets. These errors can stem from outdated information, overgeneralizations, or misinterpretations of nuanced topics. Therefore, it is important to critically evaluate AI outputs, verify facts with reliable sources, and use discernment when considering the context and potential biases. Always cross-checking AI-generated information ensures that decisions and interpretations are based on accurate and ethical considerations.
