Say Hello to Your New Co-Worker: Microsoft's Copilot

Microsoft recently announced a new AI-powered feature called Copilot, which promises to revolutionize how we interact with software and create documents. Copilot will appear in Office apps as a helpful AI chatbot on the sidebar, providing suggestions to rewrite paragraphs, or even generate entire documents for you. It also allows users to command Office apps like Excel and PowerPoint with voice commands, potentially revolutionizing how we think about online accessibility.

Microsoft has customized Copilot for each Office app, with different ways to command it. For example, in Outlook, Copilot offers short or long message drafts with options to change the tone. It can even generate long and short email drafts to speed up the writing process.

While Copilot is impressive, there are still some concerns about the accuracy of large language models and how they deal with sensitive material such as user data or personal information. Microsoft has taken steps to address these issues by adding prompts and giving users more control over AI-generated content.

Nonetheless, Copilot has the potential to transform our productivity, the way we work, and how we interact with technology.
