Review:

Cubism is a VR puzzle game where the player must take the provided color blocks and rotate and turn them to fit the prerequisite empty space. The puzzles start off easy and progressively become more challenging.

The puzzles and controls are very easy to understand, you can rotate and walk around the puzzle which allows you to come up with new strategies as you see the puzzle from a new angle.

Cubism’s 90 puzzles range from easy and can be completed in a matter of seconds to extremely complicated that can take upwards of an hour to complete. Even during the most complex puzzles, the soothing sound effects and music made me feel relaxed and at ease despite struggling to complete a puzzle for the greater half of an hour.

Cubism’s controls, music, simplicity and design all come together and fits perfectly into an easy to pick up and play type of game. The game’s official puzzles do not offer enough replay value after you complete it but the newly added “Puzzle Editor” allows others to create and share their puzzles with other players which can truly test even the puzzle masters.

Cubism is an easy buy for anybody who enjoys puzzles. The simple and clean nature along with near perfect performance on the Oculus Quest makes this an enjoyable experience. The difficulty curve felt natural and at the right pace which also means that the game was never too easy or too difficult and it never felt like a chore to complete a puzzle. But don’t let the design simplicity fool you, the puzzles can be very complex and solving a particular complex puzzle provides you with well earned satisfaction.
